Nicknamed "The Grand Canyon of the South," Breaks Interstate Park is one of the deepest gorges east of the Mississippi. This canyon was formed through millenia of erosion as the Russell Fork River carved a break in the long ridge of Pine Mountain, leaving behind layers of pristine sandstone cliffs line only officially open to rock climbing beginning in 2016. Since that time over 350 routes have been developed and recorded in this first ever guidebook for the area.
